Dr Kyriacos Felekkis is an Associate Professor in the Department of Life and Health Sciences of the University of Nicosia. He is currently the Head of Department and the ex-Histopathology Lead in the University of Nicosia Medical School. Dr Felekkis obtained his PhD degree from Boston University School of Medicine in 2004 in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Since 2011, he is a TRF in the Department of Life and Health Sciences and the Medical School of the University. He holds an honorary appointment by St George’s University of London Medical School. He is the chairperson of the Departmental Postgraduate Programme Committee at the University of Nicosia and Director of the Epigenetics & miRNA Research Laboratory. In 2015, Dr Felekkis was appointed a member of the Cyprus National Bioethics Committee by the Council of Ministers. His research interest centers around the study of microRNAs and their role in the pathogenesis of human disease as well as their contribution in gene expression regulation. Dr Felekkis has close collaboration with several research institutions in Cyprus, Greece, Europe and USA. His work has been published in various International Journals and books.
